RP 92:

Due to frost in late April, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc Ried Steinbach 1STK yielded just 12 hectoliters per hectare, which favored the ripeness and density without losing the piquant acidity of the vintage that re-started two weeks after the frost. The bouquet is bright, fresh and spicy but also dense in its bright fruit aromas, displaying herbal and vegetal notes (nettles and green and yellow paprika). On the palate, this is a dense tight, aromatic, firmly structured and tightly woven Sauvignon with stunning character. Vinified for one year in large oak, this is a promising Sauvignon and one of the best I have had from this vintage and in this 1STK class. Very long and tight, with great potential.
