The 2015 Reserva (Marquês de Borba) is a roughly equal blend of Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, plus 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, all aged for 18 months in new French oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Caressing, with velvet for texture, this is a balanced wine that has fresh fruit, a serious demeanor and fine concentration. It is a bit burly in its youth, but it's beautifully constructed and will pull in the sharp edges as it ages. In fact, it is so well constructed you could drink this now, but that would be a serious error. It needs some cellar time and will be closer to ready around 2023—perhaps even then nowhere near peak. It may develop well enough to be entitled to an uptick, but let's give it a little settle-down time.
